Welcome to Family Friendly Scotland
Most websites about Scotland talk about all sorts of quite irrelevant things like tartan, whisky and golf and yet most visitors bring their children. Well, kids, this site is for us and provides you with the inside knowledge to shape your parent's plans towards something fun rather than a boring distillery tour.
Prepare yourselves: Scotland is no Disney World and to be honest no right minded child would choose the place for a holiday. But since you probably are not choosing, you are going to have to make the best of it. There are certain things you need to be ready for:
- the parents stopping and going ooh aah over some view or rather. Scotland has too many beautiful views for its own good and adults have a difficult habit of admiring them all.
- Many of those views are made more dramatic by rain clouds. Scotland has a unique habit of being sunny and raining as well which is weird and super strange (aka annoying).
- Things that your parents think are amazingly interesting... aren't. There is no explanation for their behaviour. When we grow up, we will probably understand them.
- Everywhere you go people speak English but with different accents which are difficult to understand. It is part of the fun to try to understand them. Since I (like my mother) think Billy Connolly is funny, it makes the whole trip comic.
Enjoy Scotland with your family.
